Here are some of the great sports rivalries in the recent years.
The Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots Rivalry
Though these two teams have been division rivals for a while since 1970 but it wasn't until Indianapolis was relocated to another division that their rivalry became more recognized in the NFL. The rivalry stemmed out from the comparison of their two great quarterbacks in the Patriot and Colts roster at the time. The Patriots seem to be in control at first claiming 6 consecutive victories against the Colts.
The colts had their chance to redeem their losses when they won three consecutive times against the Patriots including in the year they took home the Super Bowl win. Two really close games followed where each team took one win each. The last game was claimed by the Patriots which the Colts almost stole again. To know their chances of meeting each other in the playoffs, check the Patriots and Colts schedule.
The Miami Heat Vs the Boston Celtics
One of the newest rivalries is between the two Eastern Conference contenders; Miami and Boston. The Heat do not have a history as rich as the Boston Celtics' but they suddenly became a fitting opponent in the Eastern Conference when they acquired their big three two seasons ago. At this point, the Celtics already had their own aging big three in Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen and an emerging point guard in Rajon Rondo.
In the games that mattered or the NBA playoffs, Miami ended the Boston Celtics' season two years in a row. The Miami heat proceeded to be title contenders and they did claim the NBA title in their second shot at it. Because Ray Allen; one of the Celtics' big three, transferred to the Heat in the preseason, the rivalry became even more interesting. It's sad that these two teams can't meet in the finals but the playoffs is the best chance we get.
