Tyler Perry's Alex Cross Will Return in Double Cross

alex cross tyler perry Tyler Perry To Play Alex Cross Again In Double Cross

Despite the fact that most of the early reviews are negative (not ours though), Alex Cross will be receiving a sequel in the form of Double Cross, based on the novel of the same name by author James Patterson.

Deadline?reports that?QED International, who was behind Alex Cross, are in the process of acquiring the rights to Double Cross, which will once again star Tyler Perry as the titular detective.

If you?re unfamiliar with the novel, you can check out the summary below:

Bestseller Patterson?s 13th ?Alex Cross? thriller (after 2006?s Cross) pits the legendary profiler, now retired from law enforcement and working as a psychiatrist in private practice, against two serial killers. Kyle Craig, Cross?s former colleague in the FBI (who was revealed to be the Mastermind, a particularly vicious and resourceful murderer, in 2001?s ?Violets Are Blue?), has managed to escape from a Colorado maximum-security prison and is steadily working his way through his list of those he holds responsible for his capture and incarceration.

Cross, who heads the list, is drawn back into police work by his love interest, Maryland homicide detective Brianna Stone, who?s been assigned to the task force focusing on the D.C. Audience Killer (or DCAK), who stages high-profile and sadistic murders to get the most public attention possible. Even newcomers will find themselves turning the pages to see how everything turns out, but significant plot holes and implausibilities make this a far cry from the similar, but far more suspenseful, two-front war waged by Clarice Starling in ?The Silence of the Lambs?.

It?s a pretty ambitious move, going for the sequel before the first film even opens, especially considering the negative buzz. Now, if Alex Cross does tank completely, these plans may be scrapped but given Perry?s fanbase, and the novel?s fanbase, I can?t see it bombing too badly.

Personally, I?m looking forward to Alex Cross. I?m interested to see both Perry and Matthew Fox stepping out of their comfort zones and honestly, the trailers don?t look too bad. I?m not expecting anything groundbreaking but give me a solid detective thriller and I?ll be happy.

What do you think? Will?Alex Cross warrant a sequel? Have you read?Double Cross? Are you happy that Perry is going to reprise the role?

NeuroLogica Blog ? Multivitamins and Cancer

Existing evidence does not support a health benefit from taking a routine daily multivitamin. That has been the bottom line conclusion of medical research over the last couple of decades. A recent study published in JAMA, however, is making headlines because it found a small but statistically significant decrease in total cancer incidence in men taking a multivitamin vs placebo. The study raises the question again about the total health effects of a daily vitamin.

First let?s take a look at the study:

A large-scale, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (Physicians? Health Study II) of 14?641 male US physicians initially aged 50 years or older (mean [SD] age, 64.3 [9.2] years), including 1312 men with a history of cancer at randomization, enrolled in a common multivitamin study that began in 1997 with treatment and follow-up through June 1, 2011.

The study found that the total incidence of cancer was 17.0 per 1000 person years in the multivitamin group, and 18.3 per 1000 person years in the placebo group. This difference was statistically significant. The study, however, found no statistically significant difference in any specific cancer (it was only the cumulative incidence that reached significance) and no difference in cancer mortality. Taken at face value this indicates a small but real decrease in total risk of cancer for older men taking a daily multivitamin.

I could not find any glaring flaws in the study, it seems well designed and executed. Individual studies, however, are rarely definitive in their findings. The most reliable studies have rigorous design, clear outcomes, large numbers, with a robust and statistically significant result. The results of this study are suspect mainly because the effect size was very small. Subtle confounding factors can reach statistical significance in very large studies, which is why small effect sizes are always suspect. There also appeared to be multiple comparisons in the study ? specific cancers, different subgroups, and various outcomes (incidence and mortality), which creates the opportunity for spurious statistical outcomes.

The fact that this study looked at male physicians has an unclear effect on the degree to which it can be extrapolated to the general population. In general physicians take better care of themselves and are more compliant with treatments than the general population.

The results of this study, therefore, are interesting and plausible ? there may be a small benefit in terms of total cancer risk from a daily multivitamin. But we have more than this one study to go by. Previous studies looking at the same question have had different results. The authors of this study summarize previous evidence:

In the Cancer Prevention Study II, which followed up more than 1 million US adults beginning in the early 1980s, multivitamin use was not associated with cancer mortality. The Women?s Health Initiative found that multivitamins had little or no relationship with the risk of breast, colon, or other cancers in more than 160 000 women followed up for a mean of 8 years. Among 35 000 Swedish women, however, multivitamin use was associated with a 19% increased risk of breast cancer (95% CI, 1.04-1.37) during a 10-year period compared with women not using these vitamins.

They further point out that observational studies have shown a protective effect, no effect, and even increased risk from multivitamins. Put into the context of the entire literature on this question, therefore, it remains unclear what the net effect of a daily multivitamin is on cancer risk and mortality. When multiple clinical trials of various designs show inconsistent and small results this could reflect the fact that there is little to no net effect, and we are just seeing random statistical fluctuations among trials. There could also be one or more systematic errors in the way the data is being looked at which is obscuring the real effect (whether positive or negative).

At this point about the only thing we can say with a high degree of confidence is that there is no large risk or benefit from taking a multivitamin. There may be a small benefit, no benefit, or even a small harm. The totality of existing data does not rule out any of those latter interpretations.

The best health recommendation also is not changed by this study, which is that the best advice is to eat a varied diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. If you do this you will very likely get enough vitamins from your diet that a supplement will be redundant. The benefits of having many vegetables in the diet is clear. Perhaps the biggest risk of taking a multivitamin is that it can create a false sense of security and justify other unhealthful behavior.

Meanwhile the question about the health effects of taking a multivitamin remain open. If anything, this study confuses the issue further because it is at odds with prior research.

My boyfriend and his female friend

Anxiety, Depression and Relationships Marriage and relationships are difficult by themselves, but coping with anxiety and depression can make them even more challenging.

Hi all,

I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years and we are in our early twenties. He has a friend who he met just before he met me, when we started seeing each other they were not very close. From about 6 months into the relationship i noticed her name quite a bit through social media and in his phone (Not stalking, just noticing over his shoulder).

This friendship became quite close towards the one year mark. They saw each other in friendship groups and began to see each other alone. They went for 'drives in his car' and to local fast food outlets other than hanging out in pubs and clubs in groups. I began to notice she contacted him quite a bit through social media and texting. I told him that it bugged me a little she contacted him so often. He palmed it off as no big deal. All of a sudden she was contacting him daily and they were hanging out more than him and i hung out. They even went to the drive ins together!!!!

I became very upset at this point and told him this friendship was very uncomfortable for me and was crossing the line in certain aspects. We had a huge fight, he told her and she got angry at me as well. She blocked me from facebook and im still blocked to this day! (She had always been pleasant to me before this btw). She has shown in so many ways that she likes him but he rejects that. I came to the point where i wanted him to not have contact with her at all (yes i know i cant control his friendships etc). We ended up fighting for a few weeks about it and he was willing to make sacrifices for me such as seeing me more etc. I still wasn't happy at this point. He then got to the point where he told her they couldnt be friends, they had a massive fight and didnt speak for 2 months. One night he was bored while i was at work and messaged her to meet up as i found out through a friend. He did not tell me this and lied when i asked him what he did that night. I then became upset because he promised he would do that for me but went back on his word and in turn lied to me. I realised then that i couldnt control what he does and that he has made moderate sacrifices for me so why should i not do it for him?

It has been a few moths since then and ive communicated to him that im still upset with how i was treated by both of them. He is reassuring that he is not attracted to her whatsoever and i have nothing to worry about at all. I believe he wouldnt cheat on me because he knows the pain of being cheated on himself. He has morals and respect too which makes me feel a bit better.

They are now only hanging out rarely, maybe once a month and im still blocked on facebook by her. I feel now i have much resentment in this relationship but im still very much inlove with him.

Im convinced by her actions that she likes him very much and im scared he's emotionally attached to this woman and enjoys the 'attention'. I agree she is unattractive however they get on well and have the same interests. She is saved in his mobile as a guy friends name when i went snooping and he fails to tell me when they hang out. He says so i dont become upset yeah right just to save his arse!

He wants his cake and to eat it too? Or am i the irrational and controlling girlfriend?

Should i be still worried that he will develop emotional feelings for her? Will she cling onto him forever?

Sunset--dump him STAT.

You said they were not close but only grew close WHILE you were having a relationship with him. Going to dinner, drive-ins, drinking together and lying about it to you means they were "dating." Those are the things you do when you are dating someone. Their relationship is completely inappropriate. If she were a better woman she would have totally backed off. Bl-cking you from her FB was a complete and total b*tchy move. She has boundary issues but guess what--so does your "boyfriend." He does not respect you enough to have a mature, committed relationship. Talking daily and texting? Hanging out more than he does with you? (Even if that curtailed since the big fight you had-it's completely inappropriate).

You are not happy with the status quo. And you will never trust their relationship. And with good reason. So I say dump him and never have any contact with him again. He is not the one for you.

I recently dated a guy who is best friends with his ex girlfriend (who is married!) They speak & text daily, sometimes even while he and I were out on dates they'd be texting! They go to lunch & hang all the time. We had to end it cause that was not going to work for me. I later found out it has caused massive problems in both her marriage and relationships he's had.

You are not the weird one. They are. Let her have him. You deserve so much better. Cut this zero and find a hero!

Tell him: "Boyfriend--this relationship isn't working for me. We have very different views about relationships and what it means to be in one. Our boundaries are very different. I don't think we should see eachother anymore." If he presses, then yes, explain to him very clearly. (but don't go crazy, be emotionless?the calmer you are, the better, tell him: " I feel your relationship with X is inappropriate and the fact that you've lied to me about things before makes me not want to see you anymore. I want to be with someone who doesn't lie to me." That's it. You don't have to justify anything any further. Dump him and carry on with your life. No contact, ok?

You have already spent 2 years (omg) in this fvckery and foolishness so GET OUT NOW so you don't waste any more time!

Thanks jellybeans but she is not an x there is no history what so ever. I agree that if there was I'd be out straight away, no doubt! Who am I though to control his friends though? If he's going to cheat he's going to cheat whether I try and stop it or not I see! He's not the cheating type at all he's been through it and wouldn't want to see me hurt...

You see, in addition to the shoulder being a joint that can be flexed and extended, abducted and adducted, rotation is by far one of it?s most important functions! The problem? Most people never do shoulder exercises or workouts for the shoulders that addresses this need! Big problem.

When the shoulder is not trained with exercises that directly target external rotation it is left in a vulnerable position. What?s worse, when all of your upper body workouts focus on the bigger muscles with chest exercises, shoulder exercises, lat and back exercises, tricep exercises, etc you?re actually only further contributing to the imbalance!

In this video you?ll see the importance of shoulder external rotation exercises for your rotator cuff and how doing them can literally unlock the potential strength you?ll be able to develop in the rest of your upper body exercises.
