Mark Regnerus Admits Parenting Study Doesn't Prove What He ...

Posted by: Bridgette P. LaVictoire on October 30, 2012.

Mark Regnerus? study into ?family structure? appears to have been heavily riddled with several ethical issues. In fact, Regnerus? study has been condemned repeatedly in various spots thanks to his conclusions that children are harmed if they are raised by same-sex parents even thought his entire point was never that. In fact, an internal audit by the very academic journal that printed the study concluded that its conclusions were false.

Regnarus? study involved anecdotal evidence from children who had a parent who had a same-sex relationship at some point in their opposite-sex marriage. His evidence, which has been slammed as being thin and barely useable, appears to show that children raised in households where one partner is closeted gay and the other is straight are at risk of significant problems down the line. His study did not include children raised by openly gay or lesbian couples.

In a recent interview with Focus on the Family, Regnerus finally admitted that:

REGNERUS: I got taken to task for leaning on young adults? assessments of their parents? relationships. I didn?t ask them whether they thought their mom was a lesbian or if their dad was gay. Because, in part, self-identity is a different kind of thing than behavior, and lot of people weren?t ?out? in that era. I think we can all think of moms and dads when we were growing up that we either knew or suspected were gay or lesbian, but never ?came out of the closet,? so to speak. So, I didn?t want to make the assumption that these young adults would identify their parents as gay or lesbian, so I kept the focus on relationship behavior. [...]

And when pushed, a lot of people who were critics of mine will say: ?Yeah, we know that, obviously, family structure matters,? and then they?ll complain, ?Why didn?t you find many stably coupled lesbians?? Well, they just were not that common in the nationally representative population. There were two cases where they said the mom and her partner lived together for 18 years. There was another several who lived together for 15 or 13 years. So, stability in the sense of long-term was not common. And frankly, it?s not all that common among heterosexual population. I take pains in the study to say this is not about saying gay or lesbian parents are inherently bad. [...]

I?d be more careful about the language I used to describe people whose parents had same-sex relationships. I said ?lesbian mothers? and ?gay fathers,? when in fact, I don?t know about their sexual orientation; I do know about their same-sex relationship behavior. But as far as the findings themselves, I stand behind them.

?

ThinkProgress notes that:

So, Regnerus? study was not about parents who openly identify as gay or lesbian. It was not about same-sex couples in long-term relationships raising children together. Regnerus even admits ?this is not about saying gay or lesbian parents are inherently bad,? because he knows has no foundation on which to make such a claim. This was a study about unstable couples, possibly in sham marriages, who may have dabbled in same-sex relationships outside of their original marriage at a time when there was no recognition for same-sex couples anywhere in the country.

Anti-gay groups have clung to the Regnerus study, often citing it as part of their opposition to same-sex marriage.

A Potted History Of Tennis

Tennis is a sport which is enjoyed by many people around the world and its increasing popularity has gained many enthusiasts. It is now being broadcast around the world and with this increased coverage has come sponsorship, which has made it into one of the richest sports in the world. There are millions of people who now play tennis both for recreation and in amateur tournaments. Throughout the decades there have been some very memorable players who have inspired others to take part and I am sure that the current raft of players are continuing the trend.

It is thought that tennis first began in the 12th century where a game was played in the French royal court where players used their hands to strike a ball. This game was known as "paume" which when translated to English, means palm. Simple racquets were introduced as the game became more popular in the other European royal courts and the name was changed to jeu de paume. The French players called out 'Tenez' which means play and the game changed its name to Royal or Real Tennis. During the early 1870s, a Major Walter Wingfield devised a game based on real tennis for his guests to play. This was the first time the game was played in this form on grass and he soon renamed it lawn tennis. He also patented the equipment and set the rules for the game during this time.

As the game has moved on, so too has the clothing and equipment and it is no longer sufficient for serious players to just have any old racquet and a pair of suitable shoes. There are now almost endless choices for racquets, clothing, shoes and other equipment for players to choose from. Some of the equipment is relatively cheap but other pieces have been specially engineered and are expensive. Tennis racquets have undergone a lot of changes over the years and if you look at early photographs, you will see that they are constructed from wood and catgut. Modern composites and nylon strings have made them incredibly lightweight and very strong, although some players still prefer natural strings so this is still an option if preferred.

Because of the need for players to prove their skills, a number of tournaments were set up for both amateur and professional players. These days, there are many international tournaments for professional players which include the 4 major tennis championships or as they are commonly known, the Grand Slam. The first grand slam tournament is the Australian Open which is played in January which is then followed by the French Open, played in May, then comes Wimbledon in June and the last one is the US Open which is contested in August. Wimbledon is the only one of the 4 that is played on grass, all the others are played on hard courts or clay. Grass courts require a great deal of maintenance whereas clay and other hard courts require less. The game is different on each surface and some players have become real specialists on one particular type of surface. Whether you are a keen amateur or a professional, your court will need regular maintenance and we are experts.

What is the Best Medium Channel for Fortune Telling?

Many mediums are available when it comes to fortune telling, from cards to water in a silver bowl. For centuries those who claim to have a gift have been telling fortunes using all manner of ways to see patterns and interpret them to foretell future events for the client who want a peek into what may be in store for them.

Crystal Balls and Tarot Cards

Popular myth would have us believe the Gypsies are the most gifted when it comes to using tarot or crystal balls to see into the possible future of the questioners who visit them. While it is possible to learn the tarot by independent study or training, the crystal ball is a device that uses intuition and the training of the mind to see what is inside.

EzineSeeker.com

Cards have a set meaning that is open to some interpretation by the reader using their own vision of what the symbols may mean as relates to the question at hand. Having a natural ability to decode hidden meanings can be an asset when it comes to any form of divination and it is an ability that can be trained and strengthened with training and practice for those willing to make the effort.

Necromancy to tell the Future

It is believed by many that some people have the ability to communicate with the dead and that the spirit world has information regarding the future events that are about to unfold.

The reader, or medium, places themselves in a trance in order to commune with the spirits of those who have departed to seek their wisdom and advice on future events and decisions the client is facing. Training for this method can be done, but it is believed that the reader must have some latent natural talent in order to be successful.

Runes and Dice

Some say there are specific rune stones that can be crafted to foresee the future when interpreted correctly by the reader. Runes are ancient symbols that are believed to be the predecessor of the tarot cards since they share many symbols. Made from clay or natural stones found by the reader, the symbols are inscribed or painted on with natural dyes and placed in a bag. The client then draws them out one by one to be interpreted by the reader, much the same as with a tarot deck. As with many other fortune telling mediums.

EzineSeeker.com

Now that you are more familiar with the tools of a medium, or fortune teller, you must choose which person is the best fit for your needs. One who is familiar with the many ways to perform their art and is adept at at least two of them is preferred. The many types of questions and problems that need resolution can affect the type of tools used for a reading, since no one method works for every situation.

Someone with a natural ability will be able to pick up nearly any of the mediums used in their trade and be able to give you a satisfactory reading, specializing in one or two methods makes them even more effective at their art. When tools are handled on a regular basis, they have a tendency to pick up latent energy from the user and become even more powerful tools of divination.

Video: Will the jobs report be released on time?

>>> welcome back. in the past hour we found out the new york stock exchange will re-open tomorrow after being closed for the past two days as a result the of the damage caused by sandy. in the meantime the storm could delay the release of the final jobs report before election day . the labor department officials say they're hopeful they can release that final report as scheduled on friday. cnbc's scott kohn joins me live from lower manhattan .

>> the better news is the stock exchange will re-open tomorrow?

>> reporter: that's right. that was important for the a number of reasons. the new york stock exchange hasn't closed two days in a row for weather since 1888 . they do not like to close the exchange for an extended period ever. the other issue is tomorrow is the last day of the month. it's very important that they get trades in at the end of the month. it's also the end of the year for some entities, so they need to be able it to trade. they moved heaven and earth to keep the exchange open. the building remained dry and had power, but the question is whether the firms would be able to operate and people could get to work. that's still a little bit of an issue here, but at least there will be a market open during regular normal trading hours tomorrow, and that is key.

>> and, scott, the labor department released earlier today indicated they plan to go ahead and release the numbers on friday as scheduled. is there any new information from that point?

>> no, that's the expectation. it would have been pretty extraordinary for them to delay it, and it looks as though they will get the numbers out there. we should point out that the disruptions from sandy from this week will not be included in the jobs -- the october jobs report that comes out on friday because they do the survey earlier in the month. in other words, it would have been done last week. you will see some impacts from all of this going forward, and certainly next month on the jobs report. but the expectation now is that it will come out on schedule, 8:30 eastern time on friday morning and not affected by sandy early in terms of the numbers or the title.

>> thank you very much. we're following breaking news. president obama as we reported the at the top of the hour

Gold Symposium 2012: What is the End Game for the Global ...

Gold Symposium 2012: What is the End Game for the Global Monetary Crisis?

Oct 30, 2012

Thoughts from the presenters at the 2012 Gold Symposium in Sydney on how the monetary crisis may end:

When 90% of the audience puts their hand up in answer to the question ?who owns physical gold or silver??, there was always going to be an element of ?preaching to the converted? at an event titled the Gold Symposium.

We intend to outline over the next week or two what a number of the speakers covered last week in Sydney in more detail, but there was a fair amount of similar content amongst many of them, so we thought to begin with we?d cover the question ?how does it all end?? That way you?ll see a mixture of opinions from the various speakers as to how the current monetary crisis might come to a head. Now on to the various scenarios presented?

Egon von Greyerz ? Matterhorn Asset Management

Egon-von-greyerz

Egon von Greyerz

Egon Von Greyerz commented that austerity will be a vote loser, so therefore governments will continue to run ever larger deficits. There will be unlimited money printing as already put in place by Bernanke 2 months ago. The US dollar will fall sharply but so will other currencies. Interest rates and taxes will surge as will unemployment. Asset prices will continue to fall in real terms i.e. against gold and silver. Exchange controls will be implemented to prevent capital leaving the borders of countries.

New political parties and leaders will emerge.?Pensions and social security will collapse. This will result in social unrest and increased crime. Famine will also occur resulting in falling population. Geopolitical problems will emerge.

Eventually all this money printing will result in a hyperinflationary depression.

Jim Rickards ? Author: Currency Wars

Jim-Rickards

Jim Rickards

Rickards believes the US will not relent in the currency wars. It will continue to debase so we should expect global inflation. Rickards then went on to outline the Four Horsemen of the Dollar Apocalypse. These were his 4 possible outcomes from the ongoing debasement of the US dollar:

??Multiple reserve currencies. So we could see the US dollar fall as the global reserve currency but remain part of the mix. He outlined a possible mix of 35% USD, 35% EUR, 10% JPY, 20% GBP, CNY, CHF, CAD, AUD and other. But with no anchor this option would be inherently unstable.

??IMF?s Special Drawing Rights (SDR?s). Rickards believes this is the prefered option of the global elites. SDR?s would not be a local currency but rather used for global transactions such as for the likes of oil, global corporations and settling global balance of payments (like gold once did). This turns the IMF into a world central bank with currency and an expanded balance sheet and the power elites maintain control.

??Gold Standard. Rickards 3rd option is a return to a gold standard and he went on to outline various options including what the reserve ratio would be and what price gold would need to go to in USD?s at these different reserve ratios. These prices got as high as $30,868 per ounce to balance out existing US money supply and $40,552 to balance out global monetary supplies.

??Chaos. This was his final option and the one he believes is most likely to come about as a result of currency wars. As they will lead to trade wars and geopolitical disagreements and eventually real shooting wars.

Louis Boulanger ? Independent Investment Advisor

Louis Boulanger

Louis Boulanger

Louis Boulanger, transplanted French Canadian, fellow Aucklander and a friend of ours for a number of years now had a great slide where he presented a number of possible outcomes including a few already mentioned. These were;

? Status Quo ? that is global financial repression in the form of negative real interest rates, inflation, involuntary funding and capital controls
? IMF?s SDR as new global currency ? as per Jim Rickards above
? China?s Renminbi redeemable in silver and gold
? Eurozone fiscal union and a Euro backed in gold
? US dollar becomes redeemable in gold again
? Gold and silver coins are legal tender again
? War, financial collapse, revolution and chaos ? as per Jim Rickards most likely outcome

Louis stated he was an optimist so didn?t think the worst case scenario was as likely. He thought a very possible outcome was China eventually making its currency redeemable in gold and silver. In fact the $64 trillion dollar question was just how much silver China still has. China has a long history in using silver as money and it is unknown how much they still have and how much more they have been accumulating in recent years.

Dan Denning ? The Daily Reckoning Australia

Dan-Denning

Dan Denning

Dan Denning?s presentation was chiefly on Exters Inverse Pyramid which we have featured previously here. ?The premise was that a great credit contraction is underway and financial assets are breaking down steadily with gold being at the bottom of the pyramid and will be the last man standing.

David Evans ? Gold Nerds Gold Stocks Researcher

While David Evans likely outcome to the monetary crisis did not differ markedly from the others mentioned so far, he gave an interesting presentation where he gave a possible timeframe for the existing debt to be inflated away. Evans believes without political interference, the current debt bubble would collapse in a massive deflation like the 1930?s. But governments and banks will interfere to prevent this by manufacturing more money. They are deliberately causing inflation to reduce the real value of all the debt that has been accumulated. His scenario assumes that central banks manage to stay in control and this is their best case outcome if they do. The main risks they (and we) face are:

David-evans

David Evans

1. Deflation
2. Hyperinflation
3. Banking crisis
4. Physical gold market blows up (see permanent gold backwardation below by Keith Weiner)
5. Major War (a.k.a. Jim Rickards chaos outcome)

If the bankers succeed he sees high but tolerable inflation, or a more intense version of the 1970?s. David calculated that if this inflation started in 2014 it would take 14 years for ?reversion to mean? of the current debt from 350% of GDP back to 150% of GDP. This is based upon annual inflation of 12% versus modern CPI of 5-8% and interest rates of 6%, so real interest rates would be -6%. He projected gold would rise 21% per annum under this scenario which is similar to what it has done in USD terms for last 11 years. So by 2028 gold might reach US$50,000 ? although before we get too excited this would only be $8,400 in todays money due to the amount of inflation required between now and then. At around this time interest rates may also rise rapidly to say 15-20%, governments would have to cut spending drastically and run surpluses to finally bring the inflation to an end!

Keith Weiner ? Gold Standard Institute USA

Keith-Weiner

Keith Weiner

Keith Weiner concurred with Professor Fekete, who he studied under, that permanent gold backwardation is the likely end result. That is where the futures price of gold will remain permanently below the price in the physical market. Normally when this occurs it is arbitraged away as there is ?free money? to sell your physical gold and buy a futures contract at a lower price.

However permanent backwardation would mean that no one was willing to sell their physical gold at any price. Paper money, govt bonds etc would all be worthless in this scenario.

What Do We Reckon?

We?re hoping for a more severe version of the 1970?s much like David Evans predicts ? so this would be a stagflationary environment as we wrote about 2 weeks ago. Maybe hoping isn?t quite the right word to use, but this outcome would likely be the least severe for most people given how unprepared the majority are.

The downside is that perhaps the status quo remains and we get more of the same in terms of the banking elite running the global monetary system for many decades yet. However we?re not so sure that David Evans outcome of a long term inflation and then high interest rates to put an end to it is that likely. 14 years of very high inflation might be pushing it for central banks to remain in control.

We don?t know what the ?end game? will be exactly but we don?t think it will be the status quo. Gold is likely to return to the monetary system in some form or another. We would be inclined to think that Louis Boulanger?s theory that China will attempt to make the Renminbi redeemable in gold (and silver) seems like a possible outcome, after a period of high inflation.

Regardless of the final outcome gold, silver and other hard assets seem to us to be a must have protection in the years to come. Unsurprisingly the presenters at the Gold Symposium all thought much the same. That hoarding gold and silver and delaying ?investing? in other assets until golds price equals its value was also a wise option

Residents' stories: Sandy is windy, wet and loud

From Florida to New England, residents along the eastern seaboard are sharing their anecdotes, photos and videos of Hurricane Sandy. Below are excerpts from the latest dispatches from people living through the storm. All times on posts are ET. Interested in writing about your experiences? Share your story at Yahoo! Contributor Network and your Hurricane Sandy photos on Flickr.

6:40 p.m.

In Virginia, empty shelves at stores

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.?At noon, I took it upon myself to visit a couple of my friends and go around the city of Herndon to randomly ask how people are dealing with the preparations for the storm.

We went to the shopping mall and asked a woman, Janice, what she thinks. She said she's glad for the storm because it finally gives her a break from all the boring election news coverage on TV.

Brad Dansky, 22, said he "scored bananas and an LED flashlight at the 7-11. Woohoo."

Janette, 51, said she's taking bets with all her friends on how many leaks she'll find in the ceilings of her house this week and that she's going to brunch like there's no tomorrow.

Wendy Shaw, 34, says her plan of attack for the hurricane is to "get a few party boxes of tacos and call it a day."

We were surprised that there were a group of guys playing flag football in their yards. They said, "Sandy? BRING IT ON!!"

? Samuel Gonzales

6:24 p.m.

Hurricane Sandy flexes her power on Long Island

LONG ISLAND?Just past noon, I went out to take a few pictures expecting to do a before and after. Sandy had other plans, though. The water had already come inland in several places blocking roads and causing evacuations. Trees and telephone poles were down before 2 p.m.. Here are a few of the pictures I took today. The storm still hasn't really hit us here yet. I shudder to think the kind of damage we are about to experience.

? Edward J. Neary

4:10 p.m.

Power still on in Far Rockaway in Queens

QUEENS?Folks around town crowded the local grocery store, Food Dynasty, and purchased huge amounts of food. I was one of them. While some people left Far Rockaway, others in the houses near me and the apartment building I live in stayed. For a while, things seemed calmed. The wind picked up, then died down.

By late this morning, the wind hit the building pretty hard and I could hear the wind's blasts. While there has been rain, my apartment in Far Rockaway has not experienced flooding as of 2:10 p.m.

At times, though, the whole building seems to shake. Power has not been affected. One lone man left the building during the storm. I wasn't sure who he was or why he was leaving the building in the middle of the storm on his bicycle. I just sat in my room, waiting for the storm to blow over, thankful I still had power.

? Justin Samuels

4:03 p.m.

Wind gusts increasing in Morris County, New Jersey

DENVILLE, N.J.?Hurricane Sandy is a monster to be sure. My family and I have tied down everything we can outside. We have a make-shift camp in our basement for fear of downed tree limbs. We are as ready as we can be for power outages. We sit and wait for Sandy's approaching wrath.

Gusts have already started that will reach upward of 60 to 70 mph by this evening. The trees swaying in the back are a fearful reminder of the damage that this storm can bring to us in northern New Jersey. While we do not have the ocean to contend with, we do have many rivers and large trees that can damage our homes.

? Gioia Degenaars

3:59 p.m.

Sandy already bringing down tree limbs in New York

BROOKLYN?As the storm approaches New York City, residents are preparing to hunker down for the immediate future. As of 2 p.m. on Monday in Crown Heights (in central Brooklyn) the storm gusts are increasing and the streets are pretty much empty.

Trees are starting to go down and branches litter the street. The winds are not very high, but as they increase, the damage will be much greater. With expected gusts up to 75 mph and with trees already going down with gusts of around 35 mph, this has the potential to be damaging as the buildings start creating a wind-tunnel effect.

Transportation has ground to a halt and the schools are closed. As a transplant from the South, weathering a storm of this magnitude in the Northeast is a bit odd. As the flooding in areas in NYC increases, watching the news turns those of us not in the evacuation zones into outsiders looking in, as well.

? Melissa Walker

3:42 p.m.

A stormy wedding, thanks to Hurricane Sandy

QUEENS?My wedding is in four days. And while most of the preparations are ready, there are a few things that went wrong and need to be handled last-minute.

Last night, I was visiting my fiance's relatives in Massapequa. An hour after we got back to my mom's house in Elmont, we found out that they had to evacuate their home. His cousins in Long Beach were supposed to evacuate as well since they live right by the water, but they decided to stay home. They've since put up pictures on Facebook of the deluge outside their front steps as well as a snapshot of a reporter from ABC News coming over to interview them.

When I first heard about the magnitude of the storm, one of my first thoughts was, Oh no, I never got wedding insurance. And I sure as heck won't be able to get it now. When I was on the fence about purchasing wedding insurance, I thought that it ultimately wouldn't come in handy because the only disaster I could think of was a snowstorm, and those don't happen in this part of New York in November.

? Tricia Bangit

2:46 p.m.

On Upper East Side, Sandy is bad, but not horrible yet

MANHATTAN?Power remains on, the streets still have people and cars and, except for the pending arrival of the really bad weather, it seems like any other day.

Reports from friends and co-workers from the Jersey shore to Long Island say that the ocean is really kicking up and flooding has been anywhere from moderate to very bad. A friend reports that water was coming up to Ocean Avenue in Belmar, N.J., and another friend who decided to stay in her apartment in Battery Park is reporting water on the rise.

Do not be fooled, the worst is yet to come! Rain, wind and flooding will all increasingly worse as the day progresses. Stay inside or head to a shelter.

? TR Threston

1:27 p.m.

Blustering hollers of wind in New York

QUEENS?Earlier, I tweeted, "Hurricanes are always such teases. It's 2012. Bring on a real apocalypse already." Perhaps that was a bit arrogant, and I'll fully understand the irony should this hurricane murder me. However, I'm confident that it will sweep over with little impact on my life.

Outside, its effects are definitely being felt. The closure of the MTA for any given amount of time surely impacts business and industry substantially. I'm curious what operations may still be up and running during this windy mess. I've occasionally looked outside to see the trees moving back and forth from the gusts. The streets are mostly empty. I've seen no people today, but did see a single car driving around earlier.

I'm doing what I should do to stay safe: absolutely nothing. The real danger, if there is any, would be outside. So, I'm staying inside, and you should probably do the same. There are mandatory evacuations apparently happening in the major flood zones. I happen to be in a groove surrounded by Zone C, the least likely to flood. So, even if Zone A is in danger, my apartment building should be fine.

Expecting Hurricane Sandy floods in Denville and Rockaway, N.J.

DENVILLE, N.J.?This year we are ready. We've sand-bagged. We've moved things out of the way of water. We've lowered lakes and boarded up. Yet, something about Hurricane Sandy fills us with a dread that most of us in New Jersey cannot shake. This picture is a scene from the Broadway area of Denville on Sunday afternoon.

Residents of Denville and Rockaway are expecting the Rockaway River to spill over its banks and cause massive flooding just one year after Hurricane Irene nearly wiped out the main street.

Hurricane Sandy takes aim at northeastern Pennsylvania

MILFORD, Pa.?As of 10 a.m. on Monday morning, the track of Hurricane Sandy puts it just a few short hours away from here in northeastern Pennsylvania.

But already the winds are picking up in Pike County.

It is anticipated to make landfall along the Delaware coast, just south of Philadelphia. By the time the eye reaches inland, the winds are expected to cause it to be downgraded to a tropical storm. But by then, the damage for areas such as Pike County will have been done. Traditionally in this area, the rain will loosen the ground beneath trees and power poles. The high winds then rip these from the ground. In the past power has been off for days and weeks at a time. With the predictions calling for this storm to be worse than Irene of just two years ago, residents are gearing up for the worst: They're buying up water and staple foods at our local Wal-Mart, Kmart and other grocery stores. Even convenience stores like the Turkey Hill in Milford are feeling the panic.

Wine: the Web's Final Frontier - Greg Bensinger - Commerce ...

Online sales are expected to grab an increasing share of holiday shopping this season. But one product category remains stubbornly resistant to the trend: wine.

While bigger online audiences and efficient shipping operations have enabled categories like pet food and diapers to become viable Web businesses, selling wine over the Internet remains thorny. Chief among the hurdles is a patchwork of U.S. and state regulations governing alcohol sales that makes shipping bottles directly to consumers? doorsteps a mind-boggling proposition.

Reputation Management For Your Business | FBF Article Directory

Third, monitoring and responding to feedback is another aspect of online reputation management services. Users get repelled by the negative comments that they find on the SERPs. Any criticisms can also be seen in a positive light provided that they are legitimate. You can?t always prevent it but you can mitigate its effects. Without taking them into the fold is a big reputation management mistake.

Their knowledgeable and skilled chief financial officers (CFOs) can partner with the company as they recover from losses and in the long run strive for business growth. The seller creates an online auction as though he resides in the United States, but responds to buyers with an email claiming he?s outside the United States for business reasons or a family emergency. PC World seems to allude to anonymous posting on Unvarnished that can only happen if someone fakes a Facebook profile. This type of service is defined as passive as it provides detection-only. The problem is that even if you fix the problem that is causing your customers to be angry, those web pages that contain bad reviews still exist, damaging your reputation.

What they didn?t bargain for was that their friends would not take the same precautions. Online Reputation Management or ORM refers to the practice of performing continuous analysis and research for ensuring the reputation of one?s business, personal aspects, professional or industry reputation. Second, the agents working on reputation management services have to find out external posts that highlight your brand in a positive light. Not only do these tools help to bring in more traffic to your website, they also help to ensure that your business has a good online reputation. Many of the bad practices that occurred in the on premises world are now moving their way into SaaS.

However, I think we can all agree that both Nadya Suleman (Octomom) and David Vitter have a right to publicize themselves in a positive light, too, rather than letting their reputations be held hostage to the whims of angry bloggers and forum trolls. By hiring a professional status management team, you will just pay a certain amount of money for the whole service. Beyond the standard re targeting there are also other techniques that businesses can use in order to reach their audience. From the way people buy Christmas gifts to how business pay bills, the Internet has brought a number of radical alterations. It should be noted that corporate reputation management strategies are best when they are implemented in continuous fashion and are designed to promote or maintain a company?s current reputation.

For new businesses, the business plan should take into consideration the kind of reputation the business chooses to build. A note on SaaS versus In-House deployment . The company keeps on top of everything that has something regarding your company on the internet. It also offers an element of giving choices for you to remove unwanted content. The basic search engine reputation strategy is to create optimized web pages that the search engines will position above the negative pages.

Online reputation management will suppress and/or remove the different negative comments that are posted on the web about your business. Although each module for each product has its strengths and weaknesses side by side you need to evaluate each application module against your business requirements (and not user likeability). All of these are tools that support your corporate reputation management strategy. Once you have identified that there is a grievance, legitimate or not, you have to respond fast. These three, particularly, have a great deal of clout, and can be used in almost any situation to improve an online brand.

At this point, one should not be bothered by the editing of the material, people leaving comments or inserting additional references. All this is done through the web using social media channels like Blogspot, Twitter along with online forums. In tandem with his wife Veronique, he created the preschool characters Boowa & Kwala and their amazing online universe, CDs, TV series? Typically a successful Active strategy would be to have any inaccurate references removed through appeal and negotiations while simultaneously working to displace the negative references by increasing the rankings of positive results in Google, and Yahoo-Bing. Whereas in the past, before the internet had such an impact on business, a company?s reputation was built through word of mouth and positive interactions with clients, today, companies also face the added stress of maintaining their online presence and reputations.

So, whether you are looking for a new job, working on wooing clients or even networking with others, someone is going to turn to a search engine sooner or later to find out more about you. When the reputation of a brand begins to taint from allegations and negative rumors, you can trust everyone associated with the brand, not to mention the media, will dig deeper for stories on the brand. Microsoft Dynamics CRM is designed for easy user adoption because of its similarity and compatibility with Microsoft Office and Outlook. Instead, one can expect online marketing agencies offering this service to step into play and craft appropriate responses that put a new ?spin? on the problem. In fact, effective reputation management will essentially suppress negative results so they are less visible than those results that create a more effective image.

It is not easy to watch after every information that goes to the web about your organization. Sometimes its hard to keep social media experiences out of your mind.
Andrew McGlinchey

Australia's ANZ Banks posts record $5.9 B profit

SYDNEY (AP) ? One of Australia's largest banks, ANZ Banking Group Ltd., posted a 6 percent rise in full year profit to a record 5.7 billion Australian dollars ($5.9 billion) on Thursday as it grew earnings from its domestic and international operations.

The Melbourne-based bank also announced that its cash profit of AU$6 billion to the year to Sept. 30 was also up 6 percent from AU$5.7 billion in the previous year. The statutory and cash profits were records for the bank.

"Although the operating environment in 2013 looks more challenging with stronger headwinds in a number of areas, our unique growth strategy and the momentum we have in adapting to the new environment means we are well placed to deliver value and performance to shareholders in 2013," ANZ chief executive Mike Smith said in a statement.

The bank declared a final dividend of 79 AU cents per share, an increase of 4 percent from the previous year.

ANZ has the lowest reliance among major Australian banks on offshore markets to fund its lending, with 61 percent of its funding coming from customer deposits.

Australian banks proved resilient against the global economic downturn and remain among a handful of banks in the world to maintain a AA credit rating.

Conversation with President Faust - Clayton Harrington42's blog

The speaker for this month?s ?Conversations with Kirkland? series was none other than Drew Faust, president of Harvard University. On October 17, in an intimate setting with no more than about 30 students, President Faust answered a set of questions prepared by two moderators and an additional few from members of the audience.

The event was held in a town-hall style, with President Faust jumping from issue to issue dictated by the curiosity of the students. The questions touched upon more than a dozen issues, from her latest book on the Civil War to Harvard?s Allston development project. Nevertheless, President Faust?s answers to these diverse questions also revealed a couple of common themes that perhaps represent her vision for the university:

Learning for the Sake of Learning

As expected, one of the beginning topics of the Q&A was academic integrity. Faust navigated her thoughts on this issue well, pointing the audience to the root of the problem at hand. Speaking to the unhealthy amount of pressure that grades and GPAs put on Harvard students, Faust emphasized feeling ?pleasure and satisfaction in work and learning? and said that it is crucial to ?recognize how important the process of doing our own work is.?

A common theme ran in her answers about the common space construction projects all throughout campus. Currently, the area around the Science Center is fenced off for construction and the administration is looking to expand student space to the ground floor of the Holyoke Center. She described the beauty of having common spaces as ?letting everyone take advantage of everyone else,? in terms of sharing ideas, intellectual passions, and experiences.

Faust?s answers to both questions successfully opened the window to her vision of Harvard as a place where knowledge by itself is appreciated, respected, and shared, regardless of the grade or reward these intellectual pursuits would result in. No matter the sour smell or the dusty air around the Science Center coming from the construction work, the intentions behind such projects are owed applause and support.

Harvard as a Leader in the International Community

Faust said that what surprised her most when she became president of the university was ?how much in the public eye Harvard is.? She added that while the amount of attention could be ?disquieting,? it was also an ?opportunity? for Harvard to become a global leader in higher education.

Faust?s most famous achievement from the past five years of her presidency is most likely her initiative to significantly increase financial aid at the College. She said that such support for the financial aid program is needed to ?support people from every possible background,? and to ?sustain the level of intellectual excellence? at the university.

Meanwhile, Faust also said that the financial aid initiative also raised questions about the ?balance of funds between financial aid and other initiatives at the university.? She said that the administration is constantly looking for ways to make ?instruction within Harvard less costly.? This would involve the use of technology and other advanced teaching tools, opening up another opportunity for Harvard to lead the world in higher education improvement.

Where She Fell Weak

While Faust gave clear answers and had a unified vision for the university, there were also places during the Q&A where her answers were not as strong. These answers were also in response to questions about three of the most heated issues within the university, namely female involvement in academia, student mental health, and public service.

In response to a question about women and professorships, Faust gave a conventional and generic answer that emphasized ?support for childcare? and encouraged ?more women and minorities into the pipeline.? However, pipeline argument has been proven, time and time again, to fail in increasing the percentage of females in university faculties. Faust didn?t touch on the root of the problem preventing women from entering and being promoted in academia no matter how many of them have come through the ?pipeline,? such as maternity and sexual harassment, just to name a few.

The same problem persisted in her answer to a question about increasing interest in public service on campus and after graduation, in which she said that students need to be shown ?a smoother path to public service? in the face of more financially assuring careers provided by the financial and consulting sectors. However, Faust did not specify how this would be done or any specific potential initiatives that would make this possible.

Lastly, Faust did not comment deeply on mental health, an issue that came up two times during the event. She only reinforced the core problems within the larger issue, saying that ?there should be no stigma about reaching out for health,? and pointed to efforts being initiated by Dean Hammonds, such as the new Committee on Student Stress.

The Q&A ended on a lighter note that a moderator asked Faust a question about her ?dream Secret Santa,? to which she replied ?no more outdoor Harvard celebrations in the rain? ? a reference to the dampened 375th celebration last fall. While Faust failed to give substantial answers to questions about many of the central issues in the Harvard community, she also provided a relatively candid and remarkably clear vision for the school as shown by the common themes running throughout most of her answers.

Any discussion of great muscle cars must include the 1971 Plymouth ...

"1971 Plymouth HEMI ?Cuda Convertible"

1971 Plymouth HEMI ?Cuda Convertible

When it comes to fast cars, the 1971 Plymouth Cuda exudes power and speed in its design. The vehicle has been used in many TV shows and movies as well as being one of the best collectors items when it comes to automotive shows and auctions. The HEMI engine helps to give the Cuda its power and performance while the classic lines and body panels make the vehicle very aerodynamic.

The 1971 Cuda featured a number of engine sizes including either a 198 cubic inch or 225 cubic inch inline slant-6 engine or the option of a V-8 engine in the 318, 340, 360 or 383 cubic inch sizes. For real power, the Cuda featured an optional 426 Hemi engine or a 440 cubic inch 4-barrel super commando engine.

The Plymouth Barracuda was originally introduced in 1964 and went through a number of design changes with the 1971 version becoming the most popular. The 1971 Cuda Convertible included a shorter platform design than its previous versions and the engine bay was enlarged to make room for a larger and more powerful engine.

The Cuda also included a 4-speed manual transmission with a redesigned front grill and pinstriping that added more impact to the overall look. The vehicle also featured a shaker hood design and a rear axle that was beefed up to provide better performance. The convertible styling gave the Cuda a very popular design option that made the difference from earlier Cuda styles.

Today the 1971 Cuda Convertible is still one of the most highly sought after muscle cars with auction prices reaching as high as $2 million for one of these classic vehicles. The Cuda is one of the best examples of fast cars in the late muscle car era. When you are ready for a classic vehicle that not only represents the best of American automotive design, but also is a great investment and is growing in value all the time, this is the vehicle you need. It is also a great vehicle to restore and have fun driving around in. You will definitely get noticed!
